I heard reports that the surf was up, so I grabed my cameras and headed for the north end of Coogee Beach, a place famous for local kids in big surf. I was pleased to find the local kids revelling in the massive swell with 3 to 4 meter waves crashing onto the rocks. Some of the photo sequences are really dramatic.

"These would have to rate as some of my favorite photos" and freatured on the cover of the The Weekend Australian Feb 2013. Taken during storm event at Coogee Beach Feb 2013 after cyclonic winds hit eastern seaboard, these photos were chosen to feature this national interest story on Australia's weather.

The Eyre from up there. Photographer Peter Elfes hangs out of a helicopter to capture Lake Eyer's dramatic transformation.

WHEN water comes to the desert, ancient, dry rivers run white; an inland sea turns red; green water surges across rusted earth and salt flat. Nature puts on a show.

Transformed into unaccustomed colour, the stark and arid land fills with drama, mystery, reawakening.
